Email: Password: Remember me

Well, here it is. Our shiny new blog!

I know, you’re probably wondering what the heck this is all about and what we’re going to write about here.

Me too, sorta. Right now, we have a direction we’re thinking of taking, but that’s about all. We’re counting on you and your comments to help us decide.

First off, I can tell you this isn’t going to be about computer tips per se. Hey, we’ve got a newsletter for that stuff. No, we want to do something new and different here.

See, one thing that we currently don’t do much of in the newsletter is opinion pieces. Sure we talk amongst ourselves here at the office about all the new technology and stuff. And we all have opinions about it (Apple computers suck). Sometimes strong opinions (no they don’t – PCs suck).

See?

So, we thought, hey, why not start a blog and tell the world what we think about everything? Maybe you care, maybe you don’t, maybe this little cartoon describes the situation best:

Either way, that’s one thing you’re likely to stumble upon here as you browse though our banter.

The other use we thought might be fun is to share a few experiences with you that don’t necessarily have anything to do with computers or technology (I know, gasp!). Maybe I’ll give you the lowdown on a cool place I’m visiting. Maybe a quick post about something funny my dog just did (or ate). Heck, maybe we just find a cool article we want to share. Maybe we stumble upon a really funny joke .

Point is, ya just never know :)

Also, I can’t promise grammatically correct posts, proper spellling, or even that every post will be comprehensible by most people. I can promise we’ll do our best to make it fun, entertaining, a little informative, or at least mildly interesting each time you stop by :)

The blog will be written by myself (Steve), as well as our office manager / tech / programmer Gary, our newsletter editor Andy (those should be interesting), and our graphics / web / get-stuck-with-all-the-gruntwork guy Mike.

So, there you have it. I strongly recommend you join our little “blog alert” e-mail list over there on the side. You’ll get a quick little notification anytime something new is posted here, so you’ll never miss a minute of whatever online babble we come up with.

Enjoy!

~ Steve

Gotta say, as much as I love reading the newsletters (some of those are just hilarious!) I can’t even imagine how funny THIS is going to be!

Really looking forward to it! :)

I have used Worldstart for a long time now and learned so much. I am a great grandma and some of my kids and grandkids marvel at my knowledge. Thanks to Wroldstart. My problem is I can’t remember most of it and what I do remember is obsolete now. I still talk about DOS and my kids look at me like ????
What’s a grandma to do? Good thing is I forget that I forget. ;)

Haven’t had time to check out my new download yet, but I want to thank you for the 10% off till 12/31/10!! That is awesome! I don’t order every month and usually find myself without a coupon code. This takes care of it. Again, Thank You, Thank You! Barb Parris

  6. Margaret says:

Congratulations on the new blog, Steve! I wish you much success with it – and your business in general! Hope blogging is a lot of fun for you.

  7. Cherrille McLean says:

Looking forward to another “taste test” from you clowns. Although I am not a big spender, I do order now and again. I am not a computer wiz so I really make use of the tips in the news letter. There just hasn’t been anything on the “sale site” yet that I can’t live without. That is because I am a creature of habit in my use and I can “live without” almost everything! But I look at it every day anyway so don’t give up on me.

  8. lostone says:

Love the newsletter … can’t wait for the blog!

  9. Daniel M. Vermut says:

Really looking forward to the blog. For those of us that don’t have the time to “surf,” how about sending the current blog article in the notification e-mail, or another e-mail, so we can just read it instead of hunting it down. It would sure make life a lot easier, faster, and insure that nothing is missed!

    *** Thanks ***

  10. Kathy says:

Just wanted to make sure you are not going to do away with Computer Tips are you? That is the one thing (Tip of the Day) besides Computers 101 that I really can’t wait to read when your emails come to me everyday via Worldstart newsletter …Once I get those 2 things out of the way…then I will go back and see what else is in the newsletter. Just looking for reassurance here I guess.

    thanks.
    Good luck with your Blog.

Congrats Stevo and Company, but what about the girls?? What happened to Amanda and April???

  19. Roger says:

I’m an old timer that’s always skeptical about something new. So I will freely admit that your blog is the first I have signed up to, as I appreciate your other programs like computer tips and the offerings of new products at discount prices. You have always shown respect for your readers, and made it a pleasure to read your web pages. I would only ask you keep this site non-techy as a lot of us out here will just fade away with deep tech stuff. You could open to suggestions, as I’m sure there are others beside me that would like some answers, generally speaking. Keep up the great work and making it fun… and Thank You.

  20. Sally says:

This sounds like a great idea. I look forward to “talking” with other fans of Worldstart. Let’s hope it is a success. I buy a lot of Worldstart products and people always ask “where did you get that?”, so I feel pretty lucky to be in on the neat deals Steve offers. This “deal” sounds good too!

  21. Cynthia says:

GREAT IDEA!! Can’t wait to see what you crazy people come up with. I know it will be good.

  22. Cynthia says:

OOPS sorry I am on wordpress with a lot of blogs. This is what I post as but this is not the e-mail address that I signed up with you guys with. So I’m awaiting moderation. Sorry for the confusion.

  23. James says:

    This is great.
I enjoy the newsletter and it is a great place to purchase many useful and very handy items.
I am looking forward to others remarks on computer and IT thoughts.

  24. Alex says:

    Steve,
I love Worldstart. I have ordered a number of your gadgets in the past. I really enjoy you enthusiasm when you decribe them but…………..if you say “I gotta tell ya” one more time I will scream so loud you will hear it all the way from Aussie!! Please……..the word “you” only has one extra letter.

  25. Dave says:

Steve, been a Fan of yours on Worldstart…Computer Tips and the Products. I learn alot on Computer Tips, I’m 72 yrs. old and who says keep up the good work. Looking forward to your New Venture…Thanks… :o )

  26. Marica says:

Ahh come on now, I have a great computer story to tell ya all. PLEASE, can I just tell one story?
Oh what the heck.. I gotta tell it. I am 63 years old and not a computer geek, but I do love my THINKING MACHINE.
Thursday night my 44 yr old son called me. He was ready to explode. He had just bought a Gateway Laptop, and the
thing was JUNK. The cursor was stuck smack in the middle of the screen. Wouldn’t move. After several suggestions,
none of which worked, I told him it had to be something simple. I could tell this brand new $600 piece of electronics
was about end up against a wall, or out in a snow drift, so Mom jumped in her shoes and drove 50 miles to his home.
Mom to the rescue.. Yeah right! By the time I arrived my grand daughter had researched the Gateway on line and there
were numerous complaints on this particular machine having issues with STUCK cursors.
When all else fails, read the “DESTRUCTIONS”, so that was what I did. Low and behold, above the key board on this
machine, there is a row of indicator lights.. These lights are touch sensitive, and guess what. One of them is to SHUT
OFF the little mouse pad thingy, so while you type, your hands don’t cause the cursor to fly all around the screen.
I wonder how many of those complains on this computer are because these folks haven’t found the on/off switch!

  27. Evelyn says:

I have been with Worldstart for over 10 years and have been taught so much that I would never have learned in school. lol Been there and know. When there were Communities/Groups on MSN I use to post your tips. I always gave Worldstart credit for them along with your address so others could join. I am looking forward to the Blog and finding out some new things to do on the computer by asking and receiving. I also love the offers you give the members about things I know I would never know about if it wasn’t for your offers.

I am looking forward to enjoying this Blog chit chat in many ways. :-)

  28. Pop says:

What a great idea,Steve. As many have stated we all either learn or confirm computer stuff from the daily news letter.I’ve been a computer user for 7 years now. Most of what I know came from my son(in the beginning)and by trial and error as the years went by.As soon as I signed up for the daily news letter I realized I needed to make a file for all the good info I read there..something as a reference in case this or that problem came up in the future. That file has solved many problems for me over the years.Besides exellent info you guys have the best prices on software/hardware I’ve found on the net.I have ordered many of your products/programs and am currently using the majority of them on my computer to facilitate it’s day to day use.Worldstart was an idea that was absolutely begging to happen.Well done all.

Love to read these blogs and the comments – way to go guys !! I have been a WS subscriber for a long time and learned many tips/tricks without blowing up my computer – LOL

I just downloaded the IOBitSecurity that was just on your website and even tho I am fairly “computer smart”, this program blew me away. I would recommend this downloaded to everyone. Heck, it found a lot of “stuff” that my other security programs didn’t even recognize.

WS is a super site! Have enjoyed it for ? years. (However long you’ve been on) I ‘ve ordered numerous gadgets and used many tips. I agree with the Google comment. SOCIAL NOT NEEDED! I noticed ANN’s comment about the IOBitSecurity. I need to get some info on this. I get a bit confused about the actual need and the difference between firewall/spyware/antivirus/cleaner/ etc… and if it’s a good idea to have several and which ones .. Keep us informed and especially keep us laughing !! Thanks :)

  45. Barry S says:

I used to watch these three guys on the movie channel, but then, they used their real names;—-Larry, Moe and Curly. This could be a real riot down the line…Keep it up guys~!! Thanks
